Route Description

This ride takes in the Middlewood Way, starting at in Rose Hill station (Marple). You ride along the trail to Bollington, where you briefly join the canal – giving you traffic-free access to the cafe at Clarence Mill. You then return along the Marple Canal, rejoining the trail at Higher Poynton.

Alternative Routes

You can jump off at Higher Poynton and go up to Lyme Park. THis route is not advised for bikes with trailers or tagalongs as there’s a very large (and untested) kissing gate that may make it difficult to get past. There is a hill up to the gate the and the track is uneven in places, but the reward is access to Lyme Park, where there’s National Trust cafe, a fantastic adventure play area (suitable for older kids – there’s not much there for littlies), toilets and a shop.
